On Sunday, June 25, 2017 over 600 faithful gathered at Mount Mary Retreat Centre for prayer and celebration commemorating:
- 125 years of the Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate (SSMI) founding in Ukraine
- 115 years of the Sisters in Canada
- 70 years of the Sisters in Ancaster, Ontario
The afternoon included a Moleben to the Blessed Mother of God followed by a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy with Bishop Stephen Chmilar from the Eparch of Toronto and Eastern Canada. The guest homilist was Bishop Bryan Bayda, CSsR, from the Eparch of Saskatoon. The Liturgical services were graced with the beautiful singing of a combined Children’s Choir from the Ukrainian Catholic parishes of Dormition of the Mother of God in Mississauga, St. Nicholas in Toronto and St. Elias in Brampton, Ontario. The choirs was under the direction of Zhanna Zinchenko, Nadiya Korol and Ilya Galadza.
Participating in a pilgrimage is an opportunity for pilgrims to experience personal healing or a spiritual awakening. The faithful pilgrims had an opportunity to be anointed with Holy Oil and to venerate the Reliquary Icon of Blessed Josaphata – the co-foundress of the Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate. The Sisters thank all those that participated in the Pilgrimage. A special thank you to all the volunteers that helped the Sisters with presenting this important annual Pilgrimage.
